Maida Vale is a unique Village situated on the site of an historical stockade at Bell Block, New Plymouth.
Woodrow Grove Hospital was a purpose built hospital facility, which opened in February 2002. This is a dedicated 30-bed hospital catering for the elderly, using contemporary nursing practices and modern equipment.

Our bedrooms are large, and have en-suites. There are spacious communal areas in the Woodrow Grove Hospital – two lounges, and family room. Woodrow Grove has beautiful gardens, which display lots of colour all year round and is home to several birds that enjoy splashing in the many birdbaths provided.

Meals
Breakfast is served to you in your own room, but other meals are served in a communal dining room.
All our menus’ have the approval of a Registered Dietitian.
Your particular dietary needs will be catered for, and you may invite your friends or visitors to join you for a meal. There is a nominal cost for this. The kitchen needs to be notified by 10.00 am if you are inviting guests.
Laundry
All linen is supplied and laundered in the facility. The personal clothing of residents is laundered by the facility staff, who are extremely careful with it. However, residents must ensure it is well labelled with their name on it.
We recommend named labels being sewn on to clothing. The staff will do all the hand washing (e.g. woollen cardigans, etc) of residents.
Cleaning
The household staff are rostered on daily to ensure all rooms are kept clean and tidy for your comfort.
Social Activities
Maida Vale has its own Diversional Therapist sometimes called a Recreation Officer. These staff members will encourage you to take part in various activities. They will also be able to offer suggestions on what else you might enjoy.
Coming events are written up on the entertainment board daily, and a monthly planner is also available.
We do our best to cater for all interests both inside and outside of the facility. We offer exercise classes, bingo, darts, quoits, bowls, news reading, church services and regular weekly trips to golden oldies and aged concern and have regular entertainment and outings.
Festive Season and Christmas Day
Families are encouraged to invite residents to celebrate the festive season in their own homes. However, there is a Christmas dinner at the Woodrow Grove Hospital for those who do not have family living close by. The residents’ Christmas Party is held a week or two before Christmas, and each person is encouraged to invite a couple of guests. |
